Bob Frey and ESPN Crew to Visit Cedar Falls During NHRA National Open

Popular TV and NHRA Announcer Bob Frey and the ESPN2 Film crew will be filming at Cedar Falls Raceway in Cedar Falls, IA during the NHRA National Open event scheduled July 31 and August 1.  The segment will air during one of the Lucas Oil Series National Event Coverage shows.  Last year Frey visited Oahe Speedway during the tracks National Dragster Challenge race making it one of the most memorable events of the tracks season.  Aside from filming, Frey later joined local announcer Mike Schmidt to call the day's racing action and add his signature style and vast knowledge of the sport.

The event will feature Stock/Super Stock Combo, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, as well as Cedar Falls Raceway's local  ET Bracket classes and Jr Dragsters.

DATE SET FOR NHRA CHASSIS CERTIFICATIONS

NHRA will be conducting Chassis Certifications at Cedar Falls Raceway on Sunday, April 25 beginning at 9 AM. All vehicles that run 9.99 or quicker on the quarter-mile need to have a current certification. Certifications are good for (3) three years and are $150.00 (sportsman cars).

We are taking reservations beginning at 9 AM. Please call us at 309-654-2110 to be put on the schedule. Sunday, April 25 is also day two of the Spring Warm-Up and Swap Meet.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR THE 2010 SEASON

Soon it will be race season and Cedar Falls Raceway is looking for highly motivated individuals to work part time this summer. Positions available range from concessions, starting line, waterbox, grounds maintenance, etc. "We know a lot of people have had their work hours reduced and others have completely lost their jobs, mentioned Manager Dan Driscoll, we can offer a least some hours to help off-set those loses" he continued.

HOLIDAY INN OFFERS SPECIAL ROOM RATE FOR BANQUET

The Cedar Falls Holiday Inn is offering a special room rate for those who want to stay at the facility during the Cedar Falls Raceway Awards Banquet. The special room rate is for those who book their room(s) by February 10, 2010.

The Cedar Falls Raceway Racers Awards Banquet is Saturday, February 20 at the Holiday Inn.

The rate is $69.00 per night/per room - ask for Cedar Falls Raceway (CFR) block for the special rate.

The Days Inn, located next to the Holiday Inn will also provide a special rate of $49.00.

DOUG FOLEY'S DRAG RACING EXPERIENCE COMING TO CEDAR FALLS RACEWAY

Doug Foley's Drag Racing Experience is coming to Cedar Falls Raceway in 2010. The Drag Racing Experience offers driving, ride-along and licensing opportunities. "We are really excited to have such a neat program come to the CFR and provide opportunities that many people could never get" said Dan Driscoll.

Doug Foley the lead instructor is also a Top Fuel Dragster driver and has competed at events both on the IHRA and NHRA level. The Drag Racing Experience is coming to Cedar Falls Raceway on July 17 & 18, 2010. Saturday (July 17) is the day for the public to take advantage of this program as Sunday is a private corporate event. Don't forget this package would make an awesome Christmas gift. MARK YOUR CALENDARS; BANQUET SET FOR SATURDAY, FEB 20

The Cedar Falls Raceway Championship Awards Banquet has been set for Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Cedar Falls Holiday Inn. "We had a great banquet with excellent food last year at the Holiday Inn, so it seemed a natural to go back" mentioned Dan Driscoll.

Details on the Banquet will be released after the holidays. However, this would be a great time to mark your calendars!

PHOTOS WANTED

Once again, the management of CFR is requesting that anyone who took any photos at the track this season allow us to have a copy for the banquet presentation this year. We have a few, from special events and from the weekly series’. We’re looking for racing and casual (pits/stands etc.) pictures. Digital pictures can be e-mailed directly to tazz@cordovadrag.com, or mailed on a disc to CFR at P.O. Box 442 Cordova, Il. 61242.

Please make all digital in the jpeg format at minimum 600x800 resolution. We will also take 35mm photos for scanning and will return them if you include a self-addressed envelope. We appreciate any help in this matter.
