The Friday Fun Night event features open racing for everyone which is a great opportunity to make several runs at the historic quarter-mile race track. BACK TO BRACKETS THIS WEEKENDEvent Time Change on Saturday, June 20thThis weekend it's back to bracket racing at Cedar Falls Raceway. On Saturday, June 20 gates will now open at 11 AM with time trials underway at 1 PM. OPEN COMP
Open Comp class is designed for any year, make, and model car & truck. Dragsters and roadsters prohibited. Door vehicles only.
The Open Comp class will run on an Open Comp format with a 1-tenth (1/10th) breakout.
Qualifying Information, Ladder Type, & Tree
All Run, NHRA Sportsman Ladder, Pro .500 Tree, Handicap Start.
The class will be qualified by positive reaction time (r/t) closest to “.000” based on a Pro .500 Tree. “.000” is considered perfect. Any negative r/t (-.001, -1.231, etc.) will be placed at the bottom of the qualifying ladder, the more negative the r/t is, the farther down the ladder the run will be placed. For cases in which identical reaction times are made, qualifying position will be based on a first-come first served: the first occurring r/t will be placed #1, the second occurrence of said r/t will be placed #2, and so on. Class will be paired according to qualifying positions, and then advance to eliminations. For more information go to www.mustangcentral.net
TEST-N-TUNE (Grudge Runs)
Race for your best time and or race your friends. It's fun and easy and great cheap entertainment. Bring out your car, truck or bike and have some FUN.
The Rev-Hard Midnight Mania Street Drags returns to Cedar Falls Raceway this Saturday, May 9. The event features head-up grudge racing with street legal cars, trucks and motorcycles. "It's a neat event to race or watch" said Dan Driscoll "The racing is fast with a lot of cool vehicles from all over the area" he continued.
In addition to the instant green starts, CFR also hosts the Ms. Cedar Falls Raceway "Flag Girl" contest. Gates open Saturday at 8 PM with racing scheduled for 9 PM until 1 AM.
Coming soon on the Cedar Falls Raceway schedule of events is the first speciality race of the season. On Saturday, May 16 is the 10.5" outlaw cars, street bikes, open comp and test-n-tune event.
To stay consistent with our sister facility of Eddyville Raceway Park and the ADRL we have decided to race the 10.5" outlaw cars on an 1/8th mile format. The other classes contested at this event will all be on the quarter-mile including test-n-tune.
Gates open Saturday, May 16 at 11 AM with time trials underway at 12 Noon. The payout for the 10.5" class will be similar to what is posted at Eddyville and based on the total car count.
The Street Bike Series will also debut on May 16. "The future of the street bikes and an event dedicated for them rests on how many turnout" said Dan Driscoll. For the race on May 16, all the Street Bike classes including the Street Bike Bracket eliminator will have a payout based on the number of entries per class but not less than 80%. "Once we get a base of how many bikes to expect we will post standard payout's by class" continued Driscoll.
In addition, Open Comp returns as well as test-n-tune time runs open for everyone.
Because of heavy rain throughout this past weekend, the Points Bracket Races originally scheduled for April 25 & 26 has been moved to Saturday and Sunday, May 2 & 3. "We definitely made the correct call as it rained almost all the time this past weekend" said Dan Driscoll. "The early forecast for this coming weekend is decent" continued Driscoll.
Cedar Falls Raceway will open Friday evening, May 1st for a Fun Night and open racing. Then on Saturday (May 2) gates will open at 11:30 AM with time trials underway at 1 PM. On Sunday (May 3), gates will open at 9 AM. Saturday and Sunday, bracket classes of Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Pure Street and Junior Dragster will be conducted. Test-n-tune is also always available.
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday April 25 & 26 is the first points bracket races of the season at Cedar Falls Raceway. "The forecast looks pretty decent for racing both Saturday and Sunday" said Dan Driscoll "it appears the temperatures will be in the 70's and that's awesome."
The new payout schedule will also be in effect with round money beginning with a second round win in both Super Pro and Pro classes. Additional classes of Sportsman, Pure Street and Junior Dragster will also be contested. Gates will open Saturday at 11:30 AM with time trials underway at 1 PM with eliminations to follow. On Sunday, gates re-open at 9 AM with time trials at 10 AM again followed by eliminations.
In addition, CFR will be open on Friday Night for an open test-n-tune. Watch the "Live Update" section of the CFR website for any weather or race updates that might happen throughout the event.

A popular question seems to be; will there be a Quick 16 Series at Cedar Falls Raceway in 2009? The answer is YES. We are happy to say that we are in negotiations with several companies to sponsor the series. "We know how important quick racing is to a lot of people" said Operator Dan Driscoll. "We hope to have the dates and details set by the Banquet on Saturday, February 21" In addition, all the information will be released on this site.
The Cedar Falls Raceway deadline for ordering banquet tickets is fast approaching and is on February 16, 2009. "We have had a decent response so far and have had several people indicate their planning on attending that have not sent their reservations in yet" said Dan Driscoll. "We just though we should remind everyone to get their reservations in" he continued. The Cedar Falls Raceway Banquet is scheduled for February 21st at the Holiday Inn at Cedar Falls.
"It's a great time to honor racers from 2008" mentioned Driscoll. In addition to the banquet facilities, the Holiday Inn has rooms available for overnight stays. However, the special rate and room availability are only guaranteed through February 7. Contact the Holiday Inn at # 319-277-2239 should you want to make reservations. You can also make your banquet reservations using a credit card by call the main race track office at 309-654-2110.

Now that the preliminary 2009 schedule has been released, we have received some calls concerning the changes to the schedule. Some positive and some negative. There is really no spin to be made here as we are doing what is needed to keep CFR open. We don't think some racers understand actually how many bracket events there will be at CFR in 2009.
We do wish we could have a bracket race every weekend and specials on the holidays, but the cold hard facts is that there is just not enough support (now) for that to happen. Additionally, work continues on a Quick 16 Series for 2009. We do need some sponsor help to make this a decent racer program. So, if you are in the position to get involved or know someone that is, let us know. We will also have higher pay-out bracket races on Night of Fire and the Terry Stumpf Race. It should also be noted that we are working on another big money race, should the sponsorship come through we will set a date.
2009 BRACKET DATES (As of Jan 21, 2009)

The National Hot Rod Diesel Association is bringing their brand of racing to the Midwest this year with events at Cordova Dragway Park (Saturday, April 25) and Cedar Falls Raceway (Saturday, Sept 26). The NHRDA events feature five classes of competition for diesel powered vehicles. "I was shocked when I heard how fast some of these diesel entries run" said Scott Gardner. "I know here in the Midwest we have a decent amount of interest in this type of vehicle."
The classes of competition that will be conducted at both CDP and CFR events are Top Diesel, Pro-Stock Diesel, Pro-Street Diesel, Super Street Diesel & Sportsman Diesel ET. Along with the diesel competition, both tracks will also have a Fun Day event with racing open for everyone. Complete event details will be forthcoming. For more information on the diesel drags go to www.nhrda.com
The Midwest Bracket Alliance (MBA) Series is set to return in 2009. The Series is conducted at Cordova, Eddyville and Cedar Falls Raceways. "We are happy to announce that we have already secured several major companies in this program for 2009 said Scott Gardner, with work continuing to secure even more."
The MBA Series crowns to Champions (Box and No-Box) in which winners get a race car makeover. The 2008 Champions, John Davis Jr (Box) and Bob Bash (No-Box) will each receive more than $10,000 in product and certificates.
Look for program details and event dates to be announced soon.

Significant changes have been made to the 2009 schedule of events at Cedar Falls Raceway. “The changes are necessary to keep the facility in operation” said Dan Driscoll. “With the current economic conditions we have to make smart business decisions and for CFR that means fewer events with the ones we host being better” he continued.
Cedar Falls Raceway will be open every Friday Night for a Fun Event which will include test-n-tune, trophy and a gamblers race. “We have added to gamblers race to our Friday night’s for our local bracket racers so that they can race in competition for a cash pay-out” mentioned Driscoll.
The Points Bracket Series will be made up of five 2 day events (10 events total), in addition we have a few Saturday Fun Days (test, trophy and gamblers) with a street bike shoot-out class as well. The street bike racers have been asking for some consideration and now they have their chance.
Major events returning in 2009 include the Night of Fire (July 25), The NHRA National Open (Aug 1 & 2), The Harleys and Hot Rods (Aug 22) plus the Terry Stumpf Memorial Bracket Bash (Oct 10 & 11).
A new event expected to be one of the most popular ever at Cedar Falls Raceway is Arm Drop Live starring Rich Christensen (Sept 4 & 5). Arm Drop Live is exactly like Pinks All-Out but doesn’t have the hassle of TV cameras present. More information will be released soon on the Arm Drop event including pre-entering, advance tickets and more. Click here for the 2009 Schedule of Events.
Cedar Falls Raceway will make some changes to the 2009 bracket racing program. “We had a lot of things to consider” said Dan Driscoll. “We wanted to be sure we looked at the program from the standpoint of economics” he said.
The 2009 bracket program will consist of 10 points races. These events will all be contested in a 2-day (Sat & Sun) format to ease the cost associated with transportation. After much consideration, the bracket classes will continue as quarter-mile races with the same class structure as 2008. Some of the other special bracket events (Terry Stumpf Memorial, etc) will be conducted on the 1/8th mile format.
The pay-out for Super Pro/Pro classes will be modified as it will now feature guaranteed 2nd round win money. “With the pay from the top program we had in 2008, the classes didn’t always have second round win money and with today’s economy we wanted to be sure that was the case in 2009” mentioned Driscoll.
The 2009 points bracket classes and payout is listed below.
