WATCH NHRA LUCAS OIL SPORTSMAN SERIES THIS SUNDAY, AUG 22 FOR A SPECIAL SEGMENT

The NHRA Race Day program that will air this Sunday, August 22 at 10 AM (CST) will have a special segment mentioning our three race tracks (Cordova, Eddyville & Cedar Falls).  The segment was recorded from the NHRA National Open at Cedar Falls Raceway in early August.

Make sure you tune in for the show. It should be noted, that we have no idea of the segment's content, so this should be fun for everyone!

PLENTY OF GREAT RACING ACTION ON TAP
FOR BALANCE OF SEASON AT CFR

While probably the busiest part of the season has been completed, there is still plenty of great racing action remaining for the 2010 season. “This is the part of the year I enjoy the most” said Track Manager Dan Driscoll. “The weather normally cools off and the action get’s hotter” he continued.

CFR Racer Don Skyberg Passes

Donald E. Skyberg, 66,  Malcom ,died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at home under the care of Iowa Hospice.  Memorial services will be held on Friday, Aug. 20,  at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Thomas Dowling officiating.  Interment will be private.  Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

STATE OF IOWA DRAG RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS
THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 14

Bracket Points Both Saturday & Sunday, August 14 & 15

The State of Iowa Drag Racing Champions will be held this Saturday, August 14 at Cedar Falls Raceway as a part of a two day Points Bracket Program. Winners in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Pure Street and Junior Dragster on Saturday, August 14 will receive special NHRA Plaques designated them as an "Iowa State" Champion. "This is a unique and very cool program for the bracket racers" mentioned Dan Driscoll. "We are fortunate that we are the first race track in Iowa to present this program, so the winners here at CFR will go down as the first to get Championships" he continued.

Everyone is welcome to enter and race both Saturday and Sunday.

WE WELCOME AUGUST WITH A MIDNIGHT MANIA
THIS SATURDAY, AUG 7

August will come in hot and heavy with the Rev-Hard Midnight Mania this Saturday, August 7 at Cedar Falls Raceway. "It's been awhile since we had one of these events and I know the street guys and gals are ready to get after it" mentioned Dan Driscoll. The Midnight Mania is an event that features street legal cars, trucks and bikes with instant green starts. In addition, the wild Ms. Cedar Falls Raceway Flag Girl contest returns.

Gates open Friday, August 6 at 6 PM with open racing for everyone from 6:30 till 9 PM. Then on Saturday (Aug 7) it's a Fun Day with open racing (test-n-tune) plus motorcycles, H&W Speed Shop 10.5" class & Open Comp. Then Saturday evening it's the Midnight Mania from 9 PM till 1 AM.

NATIONAL OPEN THIS WEEKEND AT CFR

NHRA Classes & Brackets on Tap, Sat & Sun, July 31 & Aug 1

The NHRA National Open is this Saturday and Sunday, July 31 & Aug 1 at Cedar Falls Raceway. The event features NHRA sportsman classes, brackets and junior dragsters. "We like having the NHRA and their classes here at CFR" said Dan Driscoll.

The event also includes Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman (12.00 & up) along with Junior Dragsters with competition both days. Friday, July 30 is a Fun Night with Open Racing for everyone. For more details click here.

CROWD FAVORITE "BENNY THE BOMB" RETURNS TO ARNOLD MOTOR SUPPLY NIGHT OF FIRE

Crowd favorite and self proclaimed crazy man, "Benny the Human Bomb" returns to Cedar Falls Raceway this Saturday evening, July 24 as a part of the Arnold Motor Supply Night of Fire. "He makes me more nervous than any other features, mentioned Dan Driscoll, his fire show is totally insane and then to be inside the car is down right crazy."

Benny the Bomb is one of several features slated for the Night of Fire show on Saturday evening, July 24 including the Jet School Bus, Chevy Rebellion Wheelstander, Nitro Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters, the Midwest Super Stock Mafia, Ozark Mountain Super Shifters, Nitro Fuel Altereds, Geezer Gassers, Fireworks and more!

Friday, July 23 is a Fun Night that also features the Drag Racing Online Nitro Funny Car Series qualifying presented by Lucas Oil. Admission for Friday, July 23 is $10 and on Saturday, July 24 is $25 for a HUGE night of awesome entertainment.
